From a Single Econolodge to a Growing Company

Ron Mundi, Owner/President of Mundi Hotels, started his humble beginnings in the hotel industry 20 years ago with a small Econolodge in Kamloops. He and his family worked night and day to create a thriving motel. He knew he wanted to grow his company, but he never imagined it would expand into a thriving company with over 500 team members.

It's a story that's become a bit of an industry benchmark for what steady, hands-on growth can look like. Hotelier Magazine's annual Top-50 list — which, in its 2018 report, tracked a Canadian hotel industry generating a combined $19 billion in gross sales, up 15% from the year before — recognizes the companies driving that growth from coast to coast. To go from a single motel to a name on that list is a milestone we don't take lightly.

Recognition Among Canada's Best

Mr. Mundi is a respected businessman in the hotel industry and plans to continue company growth in Western Canada. Currently, Mundi Hotel Enterprises Inc. owns 11 properties between BC and Alberta, 3 of which are currently under construction — a reminder that this recognition marks a milestone, not a finish line.

From that first Econolodge to a company with more than 500 team members and a growing footprint across Western Canada, this recognition reflects two decades of hard work, community investment, and a commitment to building something lasting.
