An Honour to Be Invited

The Western Canadian Lodging Conference was held in Vancouver, BC on November 21 and 22, 2017. Ron Mundi was invited to be a guest speaker on the panel for the plenary session titled "Have Capital, Must Deploy." It was an outstanding opportunity, and one that Ron was very honoured to have been invited to take part in.

Have Capital, Must Deploy

The topic was very relevant to Ron's experience in allocating capital to the right investment for your business — a theme that resonates deeply with our approach at Mundi Hotel Enterprises, whether it's choosing the right market, the right partner, or the right construction method to bring a project to life. Sharing that perspective alongside fellow industry leaders on the panel made for a valuable and thought-provoking discussion.

A Record Year for WCLC

This year's conference proved to be a big one for the industry. As Hotelier Magazine reported ahead of the event, the 2017 Western Canadian Lodging Conference drew record registration, with more than 300 senior-level hospitality executives gathering at the Fairmont Waterfront in Vancouver. Hosted by CBRE Hotels in partnership with the BC Hotel Association and HVS, the conference brought together voices from across the industry — including KPMG, BCP Construction, the Business Development Bank of Canada, Cushman & Wakefield, RBC, and McCarthy Tétrault — to discuss hotel investment, construction, real estate development, and the economic outlook heading into 2018. Keynote speaker David Frum, the Washington insider and CNN contributor, rounded out the program with his take on how U.S. policy could ripple into Canadian business.

Being part of a conference of that scale and calibre, at a moment when the western Canadian hospitality industry was drawing so much investor attention, made the opportunity to speak even more meaningful.

Thank you, CBRE and WCLC, for the invitation to be on the panel and for the exciting conference!
