The Penticton Western News has featured a story on our grand opening of the Coast Oliver Hotel — and we couldn't be more thrilled to share it with you. Read the full article here.

A Perfect Home Base in the Wine Capital of Canada

The Coast Oliver Hotel is located in up-and-coming Oliver, right on the river. Be delighted by this friendly town, known as the Wine Capital of Canada, where the pace is perfect and you're just steps from parks, local shops, bakeries, and restaurants, as well as the Venables Theatre.

Coast Oliver Hotel is your perfect jumping-off point to enjoy and tour more than 25 wineries, or the place to stay and park your car before heading up to Area 27 racetrack. Plus, you'll savour local gems like Covert Farms Family Estate, where you can pick strawberries and more in the summertime. In the wintertime, Baldy Mountain Resort is one of the most family-friendly resorts for snow and ski fun and adventure. Whatever the season, Oliver has something worth the trip, and now there's a full-service hotel to match.

The Big Day

Our official ribbon-cutting took place on August 16th, timed perfectly with Oliver's Roots and Fruits Expo running August 17-19 — a fitting coincidence for a hotel built to welcome more visitors to town. As PentictonNow reported, Mayor Ron Hovanes summed up what the hotel means for the community: "It's a big thing. I know you guys have all the hotels in the world here, but for us, it's a big, big deal." He added, "From start to finish was smooth as anything" — high praise for a project the town had wanted for more than a decade.

By the time we cut the ribbon, guests had already been checking in for two months. Castanet News reported that the hotel had seen over 90% occupancy since opening its doors back in June, well ahead of the formal celebration — a strong early sign that Oliver was ready for its first full-service hotel.

The Industry Takes Notice

Our modular build didn't just catch the eye of local readers — it caught the attention of the hospitality industry, too. Hotelier Magazine took a close look at the project in B.C. Town Gets Its First Full-Service Hotel, highlighting the $13-million, 83-room property and its remarkably efficient eight-month modular construction timeline. Coast Hotels president Victor Komoda put it best: "Innovative approaches like the modular build enable bringing new hotels to market more quickly." And as our owner Ron Mundi shared, "The local Oliver community will enjoy the new jobs and economic spin-off with new guests staying in town."

From Groundbreaking to Grand Opening

Looking back, it's hard to believe how far this project has come since that cool, sunny morning in November 2017 when we broke ground with Coast Hotels and Horizon North. From pouring the first concrete, to watching modular units lift into place by crane, to seaming the final boxes together — every stage of this build was a milestone worth celebrating with the Oliver community. Now, with the doors open and the ribbon cut, that journey has led to something truly special: a beautiful new hotel that Oliver can call its own.
